• Painful infection on the gums overlying impacted wisdom teeth.
• Decay on the second molar tooth in front.
• Teeth in front become crowded.
• Develop into cysts causing damage to the neighbouring tooth.

The dentist needs to examine first and will let you know if the wisdom tooth can be removed via a routine extraction or if a surgery is required.

For extraction, the estimated cost is from $162 per tooth. You cannot use Medisave for a routine extraction.

If a surgery is required, it is from $378 per tooth. For some difficult cases, you may be referred to an oral surgeon and the estimated cost is from $1,296 per tooth. In the case of surgery, you can choose to pay partial cost via Medisave, subject to final approval from CPF Board.

For anxious/nervous patients, they can consider having intravenous sedation by a qualified anaesthetist at the dental clinic. The estimated additional cost is from $706.50 per hour.

If general anaesthesia is required, it is from $700 per hour for the service of an anaesthetist. Additional charges apply for rental of operating theatre in a hospital.
