What's Happening
Aesthetic Dentistry - Botox

1. Who's going to do it?

Dental surgeon certified to practise Botulinum toxin A ('Botox') therapy by SDC

2. Is it safe?

Yes, it has a local effect. Only the areas injected with Botox will be “relaxed.” Dispersion is minimal and botulinum neurotoxin treatment for TMJ (jaw muscles aches/tension) therapy will not affect muscles anywhere else in your body.

3. What is it exactly?

Temporary relaxation of bulky chewing muscles. This makes the muscles unable to engage in the powerful, often unconscious movement of the jaw that produces associated jaw tension.

This relaxation effect will reduce volume of muscle due to reduced activity of the muscles.

4. Is it painful?

Very small injections through skin above the jawline. The size of the needle is smaller than most tattoo needles.

5. What's the downtime like?

There is no down time. Avoid alcohol, facials, massages and vigorous exercise for 2 days. Otherwise, everything is as per normal.

6. Can I do it during my lunch time?

Yes as the procedures only takes about 30 to 40 minutes.

7. Is it obvious? Is the result immediate?

Sometimes there will be minor discomfort associated with the injection. Otherwise, yes. Your jaw muscles will be immediately 'relaxed'.

8. How long does it last?

About 3 to 4 months.

9. How often do I need to do it again?

Every 4 to 6 months to suppress the over active muscle and for continuous results.

10. Is it for everyone?

Avoid when breastfeeding or pregnant, and in the presence of some rare medical conditions.
